Graduated from Aberdeen University with an Honours Degree in Geology.
Spent 5 years in South Africa as a field geologist exploring for coking and steaming coal.
Emigrated to Australia in 1981 to join CRA Exploration working as a geologist in coal and oil & gas for 6 years in Australia and Indonesia. In 1987 transferred to Bougainville Copper to work as a business analyst during a period when Bougainville was undergoing a period of major recapitalization and expansion. Including the time spent on Bougainville, worked as a business analyst with various smaller CRA Group companies for 9 years in Papua New Guinea, Taiwan and Australia. The roles included strategy, planning and business improvement.
Left CRA Group in 1996 looking for a change of direction and joined Patersons Securities with responsibility for resources transaction in the Corporate Finance area. Spent 10 years in Patersons progressing to Director Corporate Finance. Raised over $800m over the 10 years on transactions as the technical specialist, and over the last 5 years had raised almost $400m from 41 mandates as team leader or originator ranging from IPO’s through to secondary placements. Resources and steel industry specialist.
Joined Goldstream in April 2006 as Chairman & Managing Director as a result of a desire to get back out into corporate sector.
